China’s Shanshan Feng leads at six-under-par heading into the final round of the ShopRite LPGA Classic presented by Acer.
The Rolex World No. 8, who was out early in the round before the strong winds came in, posted a four-under-par, 67, on the Bay course at the Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club, Galloway, New Jersey.
Feng has a two shot advantage over American Michelle Wie (70) and LPGA rookie Moriya Jutanugarn (72). South Korean Haeji Kang is outright third at three-under. Another three players are a further shot back including first round co-leader Amanda Blumenherst.
Australian Karrie Webb, who started the day tied for 28th, made her move during the second round when she carded a two under-par round of 69 to be at one-under total and is now tied for sixth.
Webb’s round started on the back nine, she posted a birdie on the 12th and parred the rest of the holes on the opening nine to go out in 33. Her back nine was up and down, recording three birdies and two bogeys to come home in 36.
It has been a tough week for the Australian contingent, Victorian Lindsey Wright was the only other Aussie to make the cut which was a six-over-par. Wright, signed for 74 to be at three-over-par and tied for 26th position.
Unfortunately, Katherine Hull-Kirk (+8), Sarah Kemp (+8), Julia Boland (+9) and Sarah Jane Smith (+11) will not be playing Sunday.
Defending champion, American, Stacy Lewis was one of the players that struggled in the windy afternoon conditions. Lewis carded a nine-over par 80 to fall back down the leaderboard and into a share of 49th position at five-over-par.
