South Korean Inbee Park fired a second round of five-under-par 67 to hold the halfway lead at seven-under-par at the Kraft Nabisco Championship, while Karrie Webb is the leading Australian at one-under-par.

Park, who has already won this season, started the day at two-under, made three birdies to go out in 33 on the Dinah Shore Tournament course at Mission Hills Country Club, Rancho Mirage, California. The World No. 4 on the Rolex World Rankings then posted three consecutive birdies from the 11th to 13th holes to move to eight-under-par. Her only blemish came on the short par 3 14th were she took a bogey after hitting her tee shot into the greenside bunker and she didn’t get up and down.

Park leads by one over American Lizette Salas (68), with Swede Caroline Hedwall (68) and Italian Giulia Sergas (69) share third at five-under.

Webb started the day on the back nine and didn’t get off to a great start with two bogeys in her first six holes. However, the two-time Champion at this event got those shots back with birdies on the 16th and 18th holes to make the turn at even-par. Webb birdied the par 5 second and then she parred the rest of the nine to finish at one-under-par, 71. Webb is currently tied for 21st position and in a good position to make a decisive move during the third round.
Queensland’s Sarah-Jane Smith is at even par for the tournament after posting a 72 today. Her round included four birdies and four bogeys. She is tied for 28th position. Victorian Lindsey Wright scrapped through to the week-end. A three-over-par 75 saw her finish at five-over which was the cut number. 73 players will contest the week-end, with an odd number making the cut, Wright will be playing by herself at 7.40am.

Unfortunately Katherine Hull-Kirk couldn’t make up enough ground after a very disappointing opening round of 82. She was eight shots better shooting a 74, so she finished the tournament at 12-over-par but will have the week-end off.

Of the three first round leaders, England’s Jodie Ewart Shadoff (72) is tied for fifth at four-under-par, while Norway’s Suzann Pettersen and South Korean Na Yeon Choi would be disappointed after they both posted rounds of 75 to fall back to one-under-par to and part of t group of players tied for 21st.

Defending champion South Korean Sun Young Yoo finished at nine-over and will not be around on the week-end.

The other notable in the field from an Australian perspective is New Zealand’s Lydia Lo. She will be playing on the week-end after a 74 to go with her opening round of 72. Ko shares 42nd position.
