Americans Paula Creamer, Alison Walshe and Spain’s Beatriz Recari share the lead at the midway mark of the Marathon Classic presented by Owens Corning & O-I in Ohio.
The trio sit at top of the leaderboard at eight-under-par. The Spaniard climbed up the leaderboard with a six-under-par 65 on the Highlands Meadow Golf Course in Sylvania. Whilst Creamer and Walshe signed for rounds of 68 and 69 respectively.
They hold a slender one shot advantage over little known American Jacqui Concolino, with Kiwi amateur Lydia Ko, Japan’s Chie Arimura and Rolex World No.1 Inbee Park just two back.
Katherine Hull-Kirk is the leading Australian and starting to show some signs of returning to form. She posted a second round of four-under-par 67 to be at two-under and tied for 22nd position. The highlight of her round was a hole-in-one on the par 3 14th hole.
Fellow Queenslander Sarah Jane Smith was the only other Australian to make the cut, Smith carded a even par round of 71 to be at one-over-par and tied for 52nd.
The cut was made at two-over par, unfortunately for Sarah Kemp (+4), Frances Bondad (+5), Julia Boland (+9) and Bre Elliott (+13) wont be playing the week-end.
A number of leading players, including Australian Karrie Webb is having this week off before the fourth major, the RICOH Women’s British Open in two weeks at the home of golf, St Andrews.
