On the back of the recent announcement of the Ladies European Tour’s inaugural 2022 LET and LETAS Pre-Qualifier in Asia in October 2022, The WPGA Tour of Australasia is delighted to announce that the LET’s Pre-Qualifier-Asia will also double up as a Qualifier for the 2023 WPGA Tour.
The Classic Golf and Country Club in New Delhi, India will host the Pre-Qualifier – Asia from 11-14 October.
The participants will tee it up on the Ridge and Valley course, which was designed by Jack Nicklaus, and sits at the foothills of the picturesque Aravallis in the National Capital Region of India.
A total of 25 cards for the 2023 WPGA Tour of Australasia will be awarded from The Pre-Qualifier – Asia, with these players having the opportunity to gain exemptions into WPGA Tour events in 2023.
The WPGA Tour is also planning a local qualifying tournament in Australia in early 2023.
WPGA Tour CEO Karen Lunn said, “This is an exciting and significant announcement that provides our Australasian-based members an opportunity to qualify for the final stage of LET & LETAS Q School a little closer to home, in addition to providing players with an additional pathway to compete on The WPGA Tour in 2023. From the WPGA Tour’s perspective, this also provides us with an exciting opportunity to increase our International Membership base following the Pandemic.
This announcement highlights the work which continues to go on behind the scenes by the women's tours, to not only continue to grow the game in our respective regions but also provide clearer pathways to and from other tours which is vital for all of our members.
Asia is an area with a huge growth potential when it comes to women's golf, and we look forward to what can be achieved via further collaboration.
I would like to sincerely thank our colleagues at The Ladies European Tour for their vision to continue to grow the game globally, and for providing the WPGA Tour and our members with this unique opportunity. ”
