It`s official! Both Captain Matt and I do not have any finger nails left.

Congratulations to Grace, Minjee and Su on winning the 2013 Queen Sirikit Cup by 1 shot from Japan with Thailand another stroke further back. It was tight right from the word go and the lead changed hands who knows how many times during the course of the round?

After a 2.5 hour fog delay the girls eventually teed off in conditions more suited to the west coast of Scotland. The strong wind blew from the East - the exact opposite direction that it had for the entire week and the downpour we received during the night made the golf course play very long. As tough as the conditions were it probably suited our girls as they would have collectively been the strongest ball striking team in the tournament.

Only team Captains are allowed to pass on advice to their players so Matt was kept very busy running between groups reminding our girls just how tough the conditions were and that EVERYONE was having a hard time. \"Par is your friend\" was the mantra we adopted but I could only sit back on the cart and bite my nails! Did a great job of that by the way!

Great credit to Minjee for clawing her way back into her round. She started with what she would describe as 3 relatively soft bogeys and looked like she was out of sorts entirely. Showing her undoubted class she hung in there and when on 16 she rolled in an 18 foot birdie putt Australia had hit the front for the first time since the first hole. Minjee is at her best it seems when she needs to pull out something special and her comeback today was the stuff of a much older player.

Su continued her super solid play and was rewarded with 2nd place in the individual after shooting 74 to go with her previous rounds of 74 and 69.

While Grace`s score did not count Australia has unearthed another gem and with more exposure to these big events she will become a top-line player to watch. As I mentioned yesterday one or two loose shots cost her dearly and these conditions compound those errors. I know she has learnt the most this week.

If the World Amateur was played right now this Australian Team would be worth backing. Well done girls!
